Master project in Ecology: Interactions between plants, insects and pathogens
Anemone nemorosa is a perennial plant, covering the Swedish forest floors in early spring. This plant is attacked by no less than 4 fungal pathogens; some of these pathogens have profound effects on plant morphology. In this project, we want to gain insight into the effect of plant disease on the associated insect community: Do herbivorous insects prefer to eat healthy or diseased plants, and how does plant disease affect their performance? Do pollinators prefer to visit healthy plants rather than diseased plants?
The project work includes both extensive fieldwork and experimental labwork. Many interesting learning opportunities are involved!
Start of the project: Spring 2019
